Moving Supplies in Oklahoma

When you’re preparing to move to a new home, you have a lot of things on your to-do list: notifying utility providers, sharing your new address with family and friends, notifying your insurance agent, and getting your furniture and other belongings to your new home.

While you probably used any old boxes you could find when you first moved out of your parents’ house, as an adult, you owe it to yourself to pack your things more carefully now for the move. After all, you’ve worked hard to accumulate your possessions, and you want them to last as long as possible. Here’s the lowdown on various types of moving supplies:

These tall boxes come with a hanger bar and are designed to allow you to simply transfer the contents of your closet on their hangers! No more having to fold and pack, and then unfold and re-hang your dress shirts, suits or dresses.

Specifically designed to get your dishes and glassware from your old home to your new one without breaking them, these boxes are a must-have for any move. You no longer have to use newspaper to painstakingly wrap each plate or glass and hold your breath every time the moving truck goes over a bump in the road.

When moving mirrors or large framed pictures, you need to use extra caution. That’s where mirror sets come into play. Each of the four pieces fits on one corner of the mirror or framed picture or other artwork, providing you with some peace of mind for your fragile framed pieces.

You’ll also need an assortment of boxes in various sizes (small, medium or large) to help you pack and transport everything else, including bedding and towels, dresser drawer contents, books and home office contents, toiletries, cleaning materials, toys, and more. Packing items in appropriately sized boxes makes the heavy lifting easier and avoids packing blunders. For example, filling one large box with books might seem like a good idea, but efficiency doesn’t translate to effectiveness if no one can lift the heavy box.

When moving pieces of furniture such as tables, desks, bookshelves or dressers, you’ll want to protect the surfaces and corners of those items so they don’t become scratched, scuffed or otherwise damaged during the move. Paper pads function as blankets that you can place over those pieces of furniture so they will look just as good in your new home as they do in your current home.

Unless you’re packing up things like bedding or towels, your boxes will probably have some empty space. Packing paper comes in handy to fill in that empty space and protects your belongings from the jostling that can occur when boxes are moved and carried.

Don’t rely on gift tape to try to seal your moving boxes; you’ll need heavy-duty packing tape to make sure the flaps are sealed and stay sealed, throughout the move.

Don’t forget to label each box as you fill and seal it, so you will know exactly what is in each box and where it should go upon arrival at your new space.
